About Barra Fun Park in Kelso QLD
Barra Fun Park is Townsville's only theme park — twenty-five acres of bushland at Kelso with two inline cable ski systems (branded ASI Wakepark) pulling riders around a pair of lakes without a boat. The cables suit beginners to intermediate riders: grab the handle and let the overhead two-tower line do the work. The park's main draw beyond the cables is Australia's largest impounded barramundi — stocked dams hold fish over eighty centimetres, including coveted platinum barra. An inflatable Aqua Park, slip-and-slide, paddle boats, SUP, and a jumping pillow fill the rest of the day. Family-owned by Brent and Belinda Stevenson, it operates weekends and daily during Queensland school holidays, with a seasonal closure over the wet months — reopening September 2026.
