Luna Lake at Strand van Luna in Heerhugowaard is Noord-Holland's only cable lake, operated by Stefan, Lennart and Ferry — three entrepreneurs who took over the former SKEEF site with a vision of sport, relaxation and community by the water. The cable runs clockwise, opposite to most Dutch lakes, and is described as one of the country's highest and tautest lines, making it well suited to air-trick practice alongside everyday waterskiing and wakeboarding. Experienced riders can use kickers, sliders and rails after signing an obstacle waiver, while the weekend Kids Club lowers cable speed for ages eight to thirteen with a support boat on the lake. A beach bar serves drinks and snacks on the waterfront, and groups can round out cable sessions with BBQ packages for colleagues or friends. Free parking welcomes visitors whether they ride the cable or simply enjoy the lakeside atmosphere, and the operators continue investing in the Strand van Luna recreation area as a year-round destination for families, first-timers and progressing wakeboarders.
